What is Student Direct Stream?
Canada introduced Student Direct Stream Program for Antigua and Barbuda, Brazil, China, Colombia, Costa Rica, India, Morocco, Pakistan, Peru, Philippines, Senegal, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Trinidad and Tobago and Vietnam.
The Student Direct Stream (SDS) is an accelerated study permit processing program for international students who would like to apply for study in Canada for Post Secondary program at Designated Learning Institution (DLI).
What is an Eligibility Criteria for SDS?
-Obtain a copy of a letter of Acceptance (LOA) from one of a Post-Secondary Designated Learning Institute in Canada.
-Evidence of acceptable language proficiency test result such as IELTS and score 6.0 in each of four components (Listening, Reading, Speaking and Writing) or a Test d’Evaluation de Français (TEF) score that is equivalent to a Canadian Language Benchmark score of at least 7 for each component: at least 310 for speaking, 249 for listening, 207 for reading and 310 for writing.
-An international student must fulfill following requirements before applying for study permit under SDS.
You may require further documents:
-Evidence of Guaranteed Investment Certificate (GIC) of $10,000 from any bank covered by Canadian Deposit Insurance Corporation.
-Evidence of first year tuition fee submitted at DLI.
-Secondary or post-secondary educational documents included certificate and transcripts.
-Evidence of medical examination from the panel doctor (if applicable).
-Police clearance certificate from the countries where you live 6 months or longer (if applicable).
-Students who would like to study in Quebec, they have to obtain Certificate d’acceptance du Quebec.
-Successful applicants will receive letter of introduction which is also called “Point of Entry Letter of Introduction” along with temporary resident visa to enter in Canada. However, students are required to show these documents to the border service officer upon arrival.Student Family Members
As per the current policies. Student Family members who are applying under the SDS are also qualified for parallel or fast processing if they apply at the same time as the main applicant.
However, when you are applying online, mention that you have dependent family members and they will accompanying you while your stay in Canada.
