About The Program:
Parents and Grandparents Program (PGP) is a part of family sponsorship program that enable Canadian Citizen/Permanent resident to sponsor their Parents/Grandparents to come and settle in Canada. Family Sponsorship program is designed to reunite Canadian families. In order to sponsor, an online interest to sponsor form must be submitted by the Canadian Citizen/Permanent Resident. If you are invited to apply to sponsor your Parents/Grandparents, then there are two applications that you have to submit for further processing.
First Step: Application for Sponsorship (from Canadian Citizen/Permanent Resident living in Canada)
Second Step: Application for Permanent Residence (from Parents/Grandparents living outside Canada)
The Canadian Parents and Grandparents Program (PGP) is based on two key applications Upon approval of both applications Canadian Citizen/Permanent Resident need to sign an undertaking that start on the day when parents/grand parents will become Canadian Permanent Resident of Canada. To continue this application, you (Canadian Citizen/Permanent Resident) and sponsored family members (Parents/Grand Parents) will sign a contract that will confirm that you (Canadian Citizen/Permanent Resident) are liable to provide basic needs such as food, clothing, utilities personal requirements, shelter etc., to sponsored family members (Parents/Grand Parents) and you (Canadian Citizen/Permanent Resident) will make every effort to support them.
Validity of Contract:
The contract will remain valid even in the case of
-Family conflicts or breakdown
-Changes in financial conditions
-Unemployment
-If main applicant passed away
This is sponsor’s (Canadian Citizen/Permanent Resident) responsibility to sign both undertaking and the contract at the time of submission of applications.
Eligible Sponsor:
You can sponsor your Parents/Grand Parents if you are
-If you are invited to apply
-At least 18 years old
-Canadian Citizen, Permanent resident of Canada and
-Living in Canada
-A person registered in Canada as an Indian under the Canadian Indian Act
-Able to prove that you have enough money to support your Parents/Grand Parents
-Able to provide basic needs to your Parents/Grand Parents such as shelter, food, clothing, and other needs for everyday living
Ineligible Sponsor:
You cannot sponsor your Parents/Grand Parents if
-You have not been invited to apply
-You are under 18 years old
-you won’t live in Canada when your spouse/common-law partner become permanent resident
-you’re not a Canadian citizen/ permanent resident of Canada
-you will not live in Canada at the time of application and at the time when your Parents/Grand Parents will become Canadian Permanent Residents
-you’re not a person registered in Canada as an Indian under the Canadian Indian Act
-you’re a temporary resident visiting, studying or working in Canada
-your application for permanent residence is under processing
-you don’t have enough money to financially support the persons you want to sponsor
-you have filed bankruptcy
-are in jail, prison, or a penitentiary
-you have not repaid an immigration loan, performance bond or family support payments
-you were convicted of attempting or committing a violent criminal offence, any offence against a relative or any sexual offence inside/outside Canada
you are not allowed to stay in Canada and advised to leave the country because you have been issued removal order
The contract will remain valid even in the case of
